Specifications Click here for sample technical specification Specifications may be the most important element of your training tower project. Specs are the foundation on which your project stands and without proper planning and execution, your completed building could be a weak substitute for what you expected. Most people find building specs boring and full of standard warnings. Training buildings, however, are in a class by themselves, without standard requirements. Within the construction industry, training buildings are considered training aids or props, and are not required to meet standard building codes. This lack of standards means you could end up with a non-functional training tower if your specs weren’t clear and detailed. You must protect your own organization by approving good building specs. You may be working with architects or engineers familiar with industry jargon who will review the specs for you. While they have experience with construction, they typically do not have experience with fire training. The WHP team is made up of fire service professionals familiar with the needs of fire fighters, but your organization is ultimately responsible for approving a good set of specs. You can make sure your organization understands exactly what is going on in the process of developing specs by: • Reading closely • Asking questions • Ensuring your specs are the best you can produce • Requiring documentation from contractors on past projects • Not assuming official-looking specs make a quality building Technical Specification Planning Custom Specs |
